I remember when I got my first car and my dad gave me the run down of how to check my oil and read the tire pressure gauge. I knew only the basics then, oil, air, and fuel. Overtime as I began to take my vehicle to have the oil changed or other services performed I always felt like I was being duped into something. As a driver you should provide yourself with knowledge about your vehicle and what it needs. Once you arm yourself with knowledge you will feel confident when speaking to your mechanic when having your vehicle serviced.
Ways To Improve Auto Performance
A vehicle requires regular servicing about every three months. Your owner’s manual contains instructions as to what needs to be replaced, checked or filled on a regular basis. Vehicle fluids are highly important to maintain at proper levels. Just as the human body requires hydration so does your car. Oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant and wiper fluid require regular checking. These fluids keep the vehicle components moving properly. When fluids are at a low level it causes vehicle components to wear faster and can even lead to severe damages.
If you are still feeling uncertain about checking your vehicle fluids speak with your mechanic. Ask them if they wouldn’t mind showing you to check or fill a specific fluid. If you have a quality mechanics they would surely not disregard this request. They would likely feel pleased that a driver shows interest in caring for their car responsibly.
